About Me
Background and Education
I have always been an information seeker. As a child, every visit to my grandmother’s house in Memphis, Tennessee involved the removal of vast amounts of contents from closets, cabinets, drawers, and boxes, as I demanded stories and pieced together family history through material culture.
I graduated with a degree in English from Texas A&M University, and began work in publishing at Scholastic Classroom Magazines, where I was an assistant editor of a teen health magazine and managed a site migration (migrating our sites to Adobe Experience Manger (AEM) Digital Asset Management System (DAMS)) with our digital team. I learned that my real passion is information management, and decided to pursue my master’s in information studies.
While I was in my graduate program, I worked at the Harry Ransom Center where I was able to assist our patrons by answering research queries and helping them locate the materials they needed. I also worked on projects to improve metadata in our audio collections.
I have been a consultant for the cultural heritage crowdsourced transcription software, FromThePage. I provided connections between the cultural heritage community and the software product by creating newsletter outreach campaigns, content managing our blog, planning and hosting webinars, and other tasks related to growing the crowdsourcing and cultural heritage community at FromThePage.
I have lived in many places but currently reside in Memphis, Tennessee and consider it my home.
